Beth Greene is a fictional character from the American horror drama series The Walking Dead , made by season two showrunner Glen Mazzara, and is played by Emily Kinney. She is the daughter of the veterinarian and farmer Hershel Greene and Maggie's half sister. The characters do not have any special partners in the comic book series on which this event is based.
Described as a source of optimism and hope for the group, often singing to help boost morale, Beth spoke softly and was a devout Christian teenager. After losing her mother, Beth attempted suicide but eventually chose to live. During the initial and subsequent outbreaks, Beth was a sheltered girl, but was eventually forced to survive with hard work after the fall of the prison, a place that has become a safe haven. He formed close ties with fellow surviving group members and Daryl Dixon. The last bus was spun imprisoned under the service of Officer Dawn Lerner at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, and the subsequent efforts of Rick's group to find and save him became the main driving force behind the first half of the fifth season.

Season 2
Beth Greene is the second daughter of Hershel (Scott Wilson) and the sister of Maggie (Lauren Cohan), the half-brother. She was introduced in the second season episode of "Bloodletting", with family and her boyfriend, Jimmy (James Allen McCune) when Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group came to the family farm. Together with his family, he believes his family members are now revived to become sick, until the mid-season "Pretty Much Dead Already" episode in which he was forced to watch the living corpse that his family kept in a shot warehouse, and in the episode "Nebraska", his mother being turned on again has been lowered after attacking him. This incident made her almost suicide in the episode "18 Miles Out", but she decided to live. After the group was forced to leave the flooded farm in the second season, "In addition to the Dying Fire", where some of his loved ones, including his girlfriend were killed, he was forced to deal with the apocalyptic world.
Season 3
Beth became more confident and became a contributing member to Rick's group. He sings to help boost spirits and spread optimism among his survivors after finding his residence in jail at the third season's "Seed" premiere. When Hershel's legs were amputated after a walker bite in the "Sick" episode, Beth chided Maggie for being pessimistic about her chances of survival. Beth devoted most of her time to helping Hershel during her recovery, and also became a locksmith for Judith after the death of Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies) in the episode "Killer Within".
Season 4
Beth has developed a relationship with one of the prison's newcomers, Zach (Kyle Gallner). When he was killed in a walker attack in the premiere of the "30 Days Without a Accident" season, he secretly accepted his destiny. She opens herself to fellow Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) victim about this loss, and declares she does not cry anymore. In the episode of "Isolation" Beth continues to try to suppress her sorrow for Maggie when the deadly virus in the prison spreads, infecting Glenn (Steven Yeun) and endangering Hershel, who goes to the sick ward to help. During the Governor's attack (David Morrissey) against the prison in the episode "Too Far Gone", Beth and Maggie watched in horror as Hershel was beheaded during the battle, then his sister was separated and Beth escaped with Daryl. In the episodes of "Prisoners" and "Masih", Beth and Daryl travel alone, in which both engage in conflicts about other possible victims. Beth confronts Daryl in her emotional detachment, forcing her to open up and show confidence in others who can still live. He began to teach him how to use arrows in the episode "Alone" where both have found mutual respect for each other. However, this new bond was quickly disrupted by pedestrians swarming around the house, forcing him to flee beyond where he was kidnapped.

Beth spends her time at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, beginning with the fifth episode of "Slabtown" season. He has been taken by a group of police officers led by Dawn Lerner (Christine Woods). Contrary to his wishes in a dangerous environment where he was mistreated and abused along with patients and other wards, Beth planned a plan with Noah (Tyler James Williams) to escape, which involved escaping through the elevator. Although Noah succeeds, he finds himself caught by a fighter and finally stripped by the officers who find him. Later, Fajar showed signs of respect to Beth as soon as he took Noah's place as his ward but Beth publicly told him that he would find another way to escape. When Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) was taken to a hospital injured in a car accident in an attempt to save her along with Daryl, Beth drafted another plan to take medicine to save her life in the "Crossed" episode. At the end of the "Coda" mid-season, the exchange of hostages occurred when Rick's group, who had captured two officers, demanded Beth and Carol return. The exchange went smoothly until Dawn demanded that he needed Noah again. However, the group protested. Dawn claims he needs Noah because Beth takes his place and he needs it back. Noah reluctantly agreed as did the group until Beth hugged him good-bye before turning to Dawn. He said Dawn he "got [got] now", that his act of kindness is a disguise to keep Beth under his sign command. Beth persistently crammed a pair of surgical scissors to Dawn's shoulders, causing Dawn to reflexively shoot her in the head by accident, and in turn encouraged Daryl to kill Dawn in retaliation. Daryl picks up Beth's body and brings him out in time to see that the other survivors have returned, including Maggie who cried when she saw Beth killed after only knowing that she was alive.

Development and acceptance
Emily Kinney plays a recurring character in Season 2 of The Walking Dead , in which she plays Beth Greene. Beth was introduced as 16-year-old sister Maggie Greene, while Kinney was 25 years old at the time of casting. The second episode of the season "18 Miles Out" dealt with after Beth's suicide attempt. IGN Eric Goldman praised the developments presented in the episode; "Though it can not be denied that Beth is a person who does not have an entity until this episode, I love the material here with Maggie - especially when Maggie says she can not handle another cemetery and Beth tells her, 'You can' avoid ', of course "Gary Roszko of The Huffington Post affirms that Beth's interaction with Lori is a cliché, comparing it to" special anti-suicide after school ". "He also commented positively about Kinney's acting, saying it was:"... the strongest acting we've ever seen from Emily Kinney, especially in the last exchanges on the veranda. " Kinney said that the show was never clear whether Beth and Daryl had a romantic relationship or brothers, but that was a situation where they knew each other. Regarding Beth's death, critics agree that Dawn accidentally shot him, and that it was more an accident or reflex problem, commenting on Dawn's shocked expression on the trigger that had been activated. Alan Sepinwall of HitFix states that since most seasons have ignored that Maggie and Beth are brothers, Beth's death in "Coda" has no emotional impact that could have happened when Maggie felt sad when she saw Beth's lifeless body. Matt Fowler of IGN says that although Beth's death is predictable, it "feels like a big moment and it's always sad to see other characters react to the death of their loved ones" and even though she likes Beth, she "still feels very sad about his death because Daryl and Maggie (who seem to have to be reminded this week that Beth who goes at all is a topic he has to care about) feel bad about it. Whatever he was trying to accomplish - maybe getting rid of Dawn in a certain way - there was not much, many other ways to do it that did not involve him almost certainly shot or potentially turning hostage trade into bloodshed? We will never know, because Beth is dead.
For her performance as Beth in her fifth season, Kinney was nominated in 2015 for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television.
