Jeremy Strong (born November 18, 1949) is an English writer who is credited with more than 100 children's books. He once worked at a bakery, putting jam into a donut. He also worked as a caretaker, strawberry picker and in the office for the British Rail.

Life and career

Attended Wyborne Elementary School, southeast London, Ashe Haberdashers School and York University. After university he became a junior high school teacher. At the same time he began his writing career, publishing his first book, TAIL SMITH, a picture story for young people in 1978. He left teaching in 1991 and has since been writing full-time. His humorous writings often take advantage of his childhood teaching experiences and the main ones. The story There's A Viking On My Bed made into a BBC children's TV series. She won several awards including the prestigious Children's Book Award 1997 for THE HUNDRED MILE AN HOUR DOG, Manchester Book Award for teen novel STUFF and Sheffield Book Award for BEWARE, KILLER TOMATOES. Jeremy often visits schools and festivals to talk to children and parents and talk at conferences. He also regularly writes stories for dyslexic children, published by specialist publisher, Barrington Stoke. Jeremy lives near Bath in England, with his wife Gillie, two cats and four chickens.
