Les Paul Junior Doublecut

One of the first Les Paul Doublecuts was Les Paul Junior Doublecut which was released in 1958. Like the singlecut version of LP Junior, he has a single dog-eared single P-90 single coil pickup. Les Paul doublecut is currently only available as a Gibson Custom Shop/Historic Reissue model, called "1958 Junior Doublecut." Junior, in the form of singlecut and doublecut, was originally a Gibson "pupil" model. The starting price of Les Paul Junior was initially $ 49.50.

Les Paul Special Doublecut

It's also one of the cheapest Les Paul guitars available. It seems that Gibson has decided to stop most of the faded line, including the Les Paul's Special double piece for the 2009 lineup.

A much more historically and historically accurate version of this guitar, the 1960 Les Paul Special, is available as a Custom Shop/Historic Reissue model.

For many years after 1960 there was no Les Paul Doublecut guitar produced by Gibson, and when Gibson did start doublecut Les Pauls again, they returned the problem by following the original Les Paul Special flat-top design (with no maple cap carvings), with P-90 pickup rather than pickup humbucker. Meanwhile, during the 1970s, a small guitar producer in the USA, Hamer, started making double-top guitars and carved double-cut guitars that were very similar to Gibson's then inactive designs. The Hamer version of the doublecutaway Les Pauls is gaining wide publicity for use by members of the rock band Cheap Trick and others.

Les Paul Faded Doublecut

The faded Doublecut begins at Les Paul Special Doublecut, which is a flat-top mahogany guitar with a P-90 pickup that was first produced from 1958-1960. The "faded" model is so called because the nitrocellulose layer is not as thick and shiny as the original antique sample or the double cut Custom Les Pauls. This finish style is easily vulnerable to play, so many examples seem to have been "burdened" in the factory, but the wear is real. This body consists of several mahogany (usually four) pieces and sold with bag-gig (as opposed to hard case).

Doublecut Design

The Doublecut has one major design change: the original model has a neck pickup fitted closer to the neck/body joins resulting in a weaker neck joining. This is altered by moving the neck picking up deeper into the body.

Other faded finish models

The "Faded Doublecut" is one of the series (at least in 2007) "fade" the model into SG, Les Paul (single cut with humbuckers) and Flying V. All of these models are made in the United States.

Les Paul Standard & amp; Pro Doublecut

The Les Paul Standard and Pro models of doublecut LP are a newer concept, based on Les Paul's curve with a humbucker pickup, similar to Hamer's design. The Pro has 22 frets; Standard has 24 frets. Unlike the other 2-pickup single cutaway Les Pauls, this doublecutaway Gibson version has one master volume and one master tone control (Les Laurent singlecut with two pickups having two sets of tones and volume controls, one for each pickup). Many believe this new doublecut archtop Les Pauls was developed in response to Gibson's high-end Gibson competitor Paul Reed Smith (PRS), which most PRS guitars typically have doublecut designs and mastered tone and volume control, and eventually the production went from a small shop (as Hamer has lived) for the production of assembly lines that rival Gibson. This opinion is further supported by the fact that the first of the Gibson archtop doublecut Les Pauls, the now-stop Les Paul Studio doublecut (produced in the late 1990s), has 24 frets, compared to the more standard 22 Gibson frets. The 24-fret neck is featured on some PRS guitars, and is more popular with heavily solo heavy metal players at the high end of the neck. Thus the prominent Gibson Les Paul doublecut model is seen by many as one of Gibson's offerings to stay competitive with more "modern" rock guitarists, although many duplicate owners do not play a similar style of metal or style.
