Fictional character biography

Jack Wheeler went to college on a soccer scholarship. He broke up with injuries and was enlisted in the Marines to finish his education. He resigned after most of his troops were killed by a terrorist bomb. He returned to the Quad Cities and started taking the night class. She starts dating a fellow student named Claire and falls in love with her. Her new boyfriend soon started having an "accident" and was eventually shot dead in front of Jack while the couple were dating. Afterwards, it was revealed that he was secretly the daughter of a Chicago crime boss who left his family to start a new life for himself.

Claire's desire calls Jack the only beneficiary and makes her a very rich man. Angry over all the deaths he witnessed, but unsure of how he proceeded, Jack accepted the somewhat-fun suggestion of a friend to "use the money against the masses". He opened his own auto mechanic shop as a public identity, then secretly tracked down the rival gang members who ordered the attack. He creates camouflage trouser costumes, combat boots, local college football shirts adorned with a snarling red dog (hiding his protective body armor), and a hockey mask to hide his identity. Armed with PDW GG-95 Jatimatic and a pair of electric shock "gloves," he kills gang leaders and assassins who have killed Claire.

In the first edition of his limited series, he broke through hostage situations and killed all the criminals. He managed to rescue an endangered TV news reporter and was named "Wild Dog" after the SWAT team captain ordered his men to shoot the clairvoyant "like a stray dog on the street". His actions were initially directed primarily against American domestic terrorists led by the "Committee for Social Change". He faces another threat, like a social group, the National Legion for Morality, who is willing to use arson to destroy pornographic material.

Wild Dog turns an opponent when he becomes a small part of his efforts to fight alien invasion across the earth. Later, alien Lobo was sent to New York to kill comic book editor Mike Carlin. Wild Dog is one of many recruits to stop Lobo. This group includes Black Condor, El Diablo, Garryn Defender, Human Flea, Strata, Velvet Tiger, and Wotan.

Unlimited Crisis

Wild Dog was recently spotted, alongside the current Vigilante and Crimson Avenger currently on the roof of Metropolis. The group, joining hundreds of powerful efforts to protect the city from the Secret Society of Supervillies, were seen raining bullets in Trigger Twins, Madmen, and other criminals at Infinite Crisis.

In an alternative timeline that Booster Gold inadvertently created in Booster Gold # 8 Wild Dog is part of a cell of resistance against Maxwell Lord, being the only surviving or untried hero. Master forced Wild Dog to shoot himself.

DC Rebirth

A gang called Wild Dogs, patterned on the Wild Dog, appears in Green Arrow # 18 (2017), following DC's The New 52 and DC Rebirth of a fickle event. They are portrayed as "crazy-inspired" libertarian militias in the Quad Cities "and attack Native American settlements where old Arsenal host families live. They were quickly closed by Green Arrow.

Young Beast

Jack Wheeler as Wild Dog has emerged as a regular in the ongoing series, Cave Carson Has Cybernetic Eyes. His costume and character are very much in line with his Pre-Infinite Crisis appearance. He proved to be a mechanic/vigilante and friend to Cave Carson.
