The Volkswagen Polo Mk3 is the third generation of Volkswagen Polo supermini cars and was produced from 1994 to 2003, with a facelift in late 1999. It is available in hatchback style, sedan and wagon body. It shares the same platform and originally the same design as the Seat Ibiza model (hatchback) and the contemporary Seat CÃÆ'órdoba (sedan and wagon).
Hatchback experienced a major facelift in 2000, while the sedan and train received little improvement. It now has an exterior and interior design that is more different from Ibiza Ibiza which is also a facelift. In 2001, it was discontinued and replaced by its successor, Volkswagen Polo Mk4, but resumed production in Argentina, where a facelift sedan in 2004, received an exterior design applied to the Facelifted CÃÆ'órdoba Chair and interior Volkswagen Polo facelift.

Ikhtisar
Polo MK3 was inaugurated on August 31, 1994, and immediately available in the form of a left drive for the continental market, and launched in the UK market in the UK in October of that year. This is the first Polo that's really new to launch since the MK2 model in 1981; although the model has undergone a major restyle in 1990. It is also the first Polo version available with five doors and three doors. The initial range consists of new gasoline engines 1.0 and 1.6; 1.3 units were taken from the Polo before but were discontinued a year later and supported 1.4 new units, which are available around the same time as the 1.9 diesel and turbo-diesel models. The availability of Polo diesel for the first time in the UK market makes it parallel to almost all of its competitors, while Polo is the last mainstream supermini in Europe available with five doors - five years after the Ford Fiesta became the first available with five doors, and between seven and 11 years after the launch of five-door superminis including Fiat Uno, Nissan Micra, and Peugeot 205.
The platform used for this model uses a modified version of the Volkswagen Golf Mark 3 floorpan, as did SEAT Ibiza Mk2. A number of mechanical components and all suspension components can be interchangeable between the three models. Although dashboards and a number of mechanical components, including engines, are shared with Ibiza, outwardly a completely different Polo model with no body panels are distributed with the SEAT model.
Initially, only three and five-door hatchback versions were available. In 1995, the four-door saloon ("Polo Classic/Sedan/Derby") and five-door estate ("Polo Wagon/Variant") version added to the range - this was a badly engineered and slightly restyled version of SEAT CÃÆ'órdoba (saloon and estate version from Ibiza). They are called internally by VW as Typ 6KV , and body panels along with SEAT models rather than hatchback models. A two-door coupe version of Cordoba (SX) was also produced, but Polo was never made in this form.
Convertible versions are not manufactured, although a version with a full-length electric sunroof, called Polo Open Air, is available.

Machine
Initially the car was available with 1043cc extinguishing 45 PS (33 kW, 44 hp), and 1272cc extinguished 55 PS (40 kW; 54 hp) engine from the previous generation Polo, along with a new 1598cc unit. A new 1.4L engine replaced 1.3L in October 1995. In September 1996, the 1043cc engine was replaced by a 999cc injection multi-point aluminum block that was developing 50 PS (37 kW; 49 hp). Classic and Variant models featuring diesel engines 75Ã,î (55Ã, kW; 74Ã, hp) or 100Ã, PS (74Ã, kW; 99Ã, hp) 1.6L and 64Ã, PS (47Ã, kW; 63Ã, hp) 1.9L. For the first time, the turbo-diesel engine (1.9L) is available in Polo, although only in the 6K model. Because of the smaller engine, the standard 3 and 5-door 6N did not get a turbo-diesel engine until a facelift in 2000.
Crop level
Polo Mark 3 is much better than its predecessor. Various models display items such as color-coded bumpers, electrically heated mirrors, four stereo speakers, pollen filters, central locking, rear head restraints, separate rear seats, fog lamps, alloy wheels and airbags. The car was initially available in four trim levels ranging from L at the bottom level of the scale through CL and GL to the topping range of GLX models. Range-topping is Polo SE or Special Equipment; it features a number of features from higher specification models such as GLX bumpers, Sport Rader alloy wheels, colored taillights clusters and clear indicators.
Unlike Volkswagen Polo Mk1 and Volkswagen Polo Mk2, trim levels are not the same across Europe; English are L, CL, GL, GLX, 16v (then E, S, SE, and GTi); models sold in Europe have individual trim levels to the country where they are marketed. Facelift at the end of 1999 saw the introduction of E, S, and SE trim levels, as well as 1.6 GTI which was the first to be sold. in England.
The all-new Polo was launched in late 2001, although saloon and estate models continued to produce until 2003, and were not replaced with new additions to the new Polo lineup.
Variant
Sports variant
The sports variant was not introduced at first, and the supercharged G40 version of Mark 4 was never made, but the GTI model introduced in 1995 served the hot hatch market. With limited production of 3,000 units, the GTI 6N is only available in continental Europe. Featuring the 1.6Ã,Ã,16V 125 PS (92 kW) version of the unit that will later be found in the Mark 3F model, the car is equipped with 15 "BBS alloys and can run up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 9.1 seconds, 16V, introduced to replace GLX, is one of the most popular Mark 3 versions with converter, it used 1.4Ã unit, 16V driven to 100 PS (74 kW) as standard. This car is not a pure sport model, and with a 0-100 km/hr 10.6 seconds and a top speed of 190 km/h (118 mph), the speed is not as fast as the Ibiza model (which uses 2.0 L 16V engine).GTIs often look more expensive for given performance.
Polo GTI
Between 2000 and 2002 VW offered two sports models, 16V and GTI. 16V comes with a 1.4 16V 100 PS (74 kW) engine and has options like 15 "Spa and AC alloys. However, more interest is in the GTI.Only available in hatchback, the GTI is powered by 1.6 16V 125 PS Engine (92 kW) with variable valve timings, making it the most powerful Polo to exit the factory to date.External changes give the car a look that matches its strength.Higher front bumper with honeycomb mesh inserts, side skirts, fog lamps, honeycomb mesh filters and rim 15 "BBS split fit this car. There are also standard additions such as fully automatic Climatronic AC, Xenon headlamps (with frontlight washer systems), 6 disc CD autochanger, exclusive sports interiors with leather steering wheel and gear lever, chrome inserts and driver aids like ABS with EBD and an EDL (system to assist traction). Leather and satellite navigation is also an optional addition. Mark 3F Polo GTI but missed the new six-speed gearbox introduced in the smaller Lupo GTI.
Polo Harlequin
In Europe, a special model of "Harlekin" or "Harlequin" was released in 1995. Polo Harlekin is an unusual edition featuring multi-colored body with each panel in different colors: Red Flash, Ginster Yellow, Pistachio Green and Chagall blue. It uses the same machine as normal Polos - color panel is the only difference. Originally limited to 1,000, about 3,800 series were produced. There were 2500 Polo Harlequins made in England between 1996 and 1998.
Facelift
Polo facelifted in 2000 (internal appointment Typ 6N2 , unofficially known as Mark 3F), with the hatchback model featuring updated styling including new headlights and new bumpers and new interiors based on Lupo. Although the car is similar in appearance to the Mark 3 (the bodyshell is fully galvanized and rigid but not completely redesigned, although some panels are changed), Volkswagen claims that 70% of the new components. Power steering, anti locking brakes and twin airbags are standard. The saloon and estate versions receive a new interior, but not a full exterior facelift. Also, a 1.4-liter TDI three-cylinder engine was introduced for three and five-door hatchbacks.
Specification options range from power steering, tinted glass, separate rear seats, electric windows and cup holders for ABS, AC, Xenon lights and satellite navigation. Thirty-two models with seven engines ranging from diesel 1.4 to 1.6Ã, L 16V GTI make the most extensive Polo choice ever seen. The base model is a Comfortline with a choice of not less than 5 engines ranging from 1.050 PS (37 kW) to a 1.9 TDI unit found across the VW range, generating 90 PS (66 kW). Hatchback 1.0Ã, L is considered cheap for build quality and specification list when compared to other cars. Then comes the Trendline and Highline models. With engine options ranging from 60 PS (44 kW) to 110 PS (81 kW) diesel they offer a variety of features that are typically found on more sporty models but without insurance or running cost woes.

In some markets Asia Pacific, Polo Classic (1995-2002MY) sold as Derby.
In China, FAW-Volkswagen simply trims Cordoba SEAT without exterior modifications from the European Derby (ie front and front bumper/headlights). It is sold & amp; assembled as FAW-VW City-Golf during 1996. It's not to be confused with Canadian Mark 4 City Golf which was released in 2006 in Canada.
Latin America
In Argentina, Volkswagen manufactures Polo Classic, which is sold as a Derby in Mexico, and Volkswagen Caddy, the derived Inca SEAT van, which shares the same platform and front-end styling as the Polo Classic. Polo Classic (Typ 6K) and Caddy (Typ 9K) have been produced since 2000. All facelift models are models made by Argentina.
Latin America has its own trim level, although some of the trim level names are similar to their European counterparts. CL and GL are available from 1996 onwards in Brazil; this is similar to their European counterparts, although slightly more expensive due to import tariffs.
