In traditional Chinese medicine, a tiger penis (Vietnamese:
p> ; Chinese: ; pinyin: h? bi? n ) is said to have important therapeutic properties. However, there is no scientific evidence that a tiger penis can be used to treat a medical disorder. Furthermore, the demand for tiger body parts exacerbates the status of endangered tigers by providing a market for hunters. While tiger penis is consumed in parts of China and Southeast Asia, tiger penis consumption is often criticized by most countries and various environmental groups.

Health
The tiger penis when consumed is said to be a potent aphrodisiac and an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction. However, there is no scientific evidence to support the use of tiger penis in the treatment of any disorder. These persistent folk beliefs have contributed to the tiger hunt for the benefits they suspect, the penis being one of many drug assets. The huge underground market in China and other parts of Asia exist to meet the constant demand for tiger body parts.
Medical studies conducted by experts at the University of New South Wales and the University of Alaska claim that when Chinese people quickly modernize, more and more men use sildenafil (Viagra) rather than traditional medicine to treat erectile dysfunction. The researchers surveyed 256 Chinese men, aged 50 to 76, who sought treatment at a major TCM clinic in Hong Kong on their method for treating impotence. Although research shows that older men in China found sildenafil (Viagra), a more effective treatment, they also showed that they are still using alternative treatments (other) diseases such as arthritis, indigestion and gout.

Cuisine
Penis tiger, deer penis, turtle penis, or male cock penis are consumed in restaurants in parts of China and Southeast Asia and are generally offered as a delicacy of soup. People have been known to spend up to $ 5700 (Ã, à £ 3000) on a very rare tiger penis dish, something to be ordered a few months earlier. Dried tiger penises are often sold for about $ 2500 (£ 1300) in Singapore and Taiwan. The penis can be taken in soup, ground with wine (tiger wine), or soaked in rice. One method of preparation, especially in the Mekong River Delta, is to place a dry tiger penis, with the testicles still attached, into a French cognac or Chinese wine bottle and let it soak for several weeks. Then, when cooked, liquor is taken every night.
