Once in a While is an album by American pop singer Johnny Mathis that was released on May 23, 1988, by Columbia Records and found it back to the practice of covering contemporary hits. but also mix in the lesser known songs that have been recorded by other artists along with some new ones ("Daydreamin '", "From Whisper to Scream", "Two Hearts Strong").

Although the album did not make it into the Pop Top Pop Album album, the album "I'm on the Outside Looking In" reached number 27 for 12 weeks on the magazine list of 40 Hot Adult Adult Songs this week in the US starting on July 2nd issue of the year that.

Reception

The album received positive reviews from Allmusic, in which Bil Carpenter praised the "incredible street corner tracks" in the song title and "I'm Outside Looking In" and also has good words for "From Bisik to Scream" and "Two Strong Hearts".

Song information

Tommy Dorsey & amp; The orchestra spent seven weeks at number one in Billboard magazine in 1937 with "Once in a While", which is the oldest song that Mathis cover this time. "I'm on the Outside Looking In" by Little Anthony and Imperials reached number 15 on Billboard Hot 100 and number eight on the Hot R & amp; B in the magazine in 1964. And the recording "No Women (Like I Belong)" by The Four Tops gained Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America and peaked at number two R & amp; B, number four pop, and number 14 on the magazine list of the 40 most popular easy listening songs of the week in the US in 1973.

Todd Rundgren "It Would Not Made Made Any Difference" first appeared on his 1972 album Something/Anything? , and "Just Like You" recorded by Dennis Edwards for his 1984 LP Do not Look Anymore. Smokey Robinson included "Love Brought Us Here Tonight" on his 1987 single One Heartbeat album, and Lauren Wood's original recording of "Fallen" appeared in his 1981 Cat Trick release. > but received the widest exposure as one of the songs heard in the 1990 movie Pretty Woman and on his soundtrack album, which was released two years after the album and sold 3 million copies. The duet on this album, "Two Strong Hearts", was also released as a solo outing in 1988 by John Farnham on the Age of Reason album; his version gets as high as number 38 on the Billboard magazine Adult Contemporary chart and number five in Australia.
