Plot

George tried to break up with his girlfriend, Maura (Alex Kapp Horner), but he would not agree. Jerry has bought a cuff used by Jerry Lewis at Cinderfella. He plans to use it as a conversation starter with Lewis when he goes to the upcoming grill at Club Friar. George insists that all he needs as a conversation starter is the fact that they share the same name. Puzzle new girlfriend Elaine and intrigue her with her secret behavior. Jerry jokingly points out that maybe he is a super hero who hides his secret identity. The outside of Elaine's new secret girlfriend apartment is actually located in Manhattan East Village at 4 St. Mark's Place. Environmental landmarks such as Trash and Vaudeville and St. Mark's Hotel can be seen in the shooting.

With the theft taking place in the building, Kramer has obtained a powerful box to store his valuables. She needs to find a place to hide her key, a place no one knows but herself. His first place, Jerry's drawer, did not work, because Jerry opened it in a few moments.

George outlined all the reasons that they should be officially broken down. Maura still disagree "to turn the key":

Maura : I refuse to give in to this relationship. It's like... launching a missile from a submarine. We both have to turn our keys.
George : All right, then, I have to ask you to change your key.
Maura : (firmly) Sorry, George, I can not do it.
George : Turn on your keys, Maura. Turn your key!

Elaine gives in to her mysterious man when, on the road, she avoids a woman whom Elaine deduces is his wife. He returned to Jerry's apartment to find his intercom broken. So he yells at him from the street, about the mysterious man, while he waits for an opportunity to enter his building. Jerry checked his intercom, only to find the powerful Kramer key hidden inside. Kramer hides the key again, this time in one of Jerry's pockets. Jerry found the key again when he wore a T-shirt, to go to George. While downstairs, a neighbor, Phil (Louis Mustillo), asks to be let in. Jerry politely denied him entering, explaining that there was a robbery and he did not recognize him. Elaine goes to the mysterious man's slum apartment and finds that she is poor and prosperous. The woman she handles is her welfare social worker. Jerry discovers that Phil does live in his building, and to add discomfort to Jerry, he also lives right next to Kramer.

Elaine tells Jerry about Glenn being poor, and they suggest that he can only pay her to get out of the relationship. However, this plan backfired when he found out how much he meant to Glenn. George decided that an affair at Maura might be his ticket. Kramer let Phil keep his feet in the hallway. Kramer also hides his key at Phil's. Jerry needed his cufflinks for grilled meat, only to find out that Kramer had locked them in his powerful box. The lock of the box was hidden on the parrot's plate, only now that the parrot died (because he choked the Kramer key) and was buried in a pet cemetery. The Godfather Part II was referred here when Jerry accused Kramer of Fredo's death; Kramer exclaimed that "Fredo is weak and stupid! He should not eat that key !!". George tries to get caught with another woman, Loretta (Illeana Douglas), but the two women agree that they can overcome this incident with George. Elaine finds out that Glenn is married, also poor. Kramer and Jerry go to an animal funeral to dig a key, his neighbor just catches Jerry. George asks what's in the cooler (iron case) because he easily opens it.

Kramer : Oh. Well, did you see that. I guess I forgot to lock it.
Jerry : Do you mean it's open? We desecrate pet cemetery pet?
Kramer : Well, this is one for books, yes, Jerry? Really one to book!

Critical reception

David Sims from The A.V. The Club writes that this is one of the many episodes that contributed to Elaine's "declining" arc story: "Everything about Elaine's behavior here is terrifyingly beautiful: She does not care if [Glenn] marries, but is eager to dump her as soon as she realized he was broke, and started bribing him to break up with his apartment fixtures so he would not feel so bad when he dumped him. Then, of course, as the last cosmic joke, he was married.Even George has not had such luck this time. " adding that the dead parrot subplot was "abyss".

Siyumhaseinfeld wrote, "This funny episode does not go into the Top 50, but it's still really great as the scenes of Jerry and George make fun of Green Lantern and Lassie # 3

characteristics of the Seinfeld Period End. Some of the episodes, especially the weaker ones, are so wild and scattered in their stories that they are opposed to a simple description. That's not to say The Strongbox does not have a fair share of these funny moments - they do not come together and the most classic Seinfeld episode... This episode feels more like a different group of people. rocky jokes in the author's room. Even when it's about Seinfeld's best thing when doing a lot of things in that absence.
