Ginger ale is a carbonated soft drink seasoned with ginger. Drunk alone or used as a mixer with a spirit-based drink. There are two main types of ginger ale. The dry style (also called pale style) is a pale beverage with a much lighter ginger flavor, and was created by Canadian John McLaughlin.

Histori

Thomas Cantrell, an American pharmacist and surgeon, claims to have created ginger ale in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and markets it with local drink producer Grattan and Company. Grattan made the slogan "The Original Makers of Ginger Ale" on the bottle. This is an older, darker-style ginger ale Golden, generally sweet to taste, with a strong flavor of ginger spice. Ginger ale is clear; ginger beer is often cloudy because of brewing residue, and has a stronger ginger flavor.

Dry ginger ale is recognized as a Canadian creation by John McLaughlin, a chemist and pharmacist. After establishing a soda bottling factory in 1890, McLaughlin began developing flavor extracts to add to water in 1904. That year, he introduced "Pale Dry Ginger Ale", a patented bubbly offering to be patented in 1907 as "Canadian Dry Ginger Ale". Instant success, Canadian dried products are accepted by appointment to the Household Deputy Regal Governor General of Canada. Dry style also became popular in the United States during the Prohibition era, when used as a mixer for alcoholic beverages. Ginger ale dried quickly beyond the golden ginger ale in popularity. Currently, the golden ginger ale is an unusual and more regional drink which is exemplified by Vernor. In contrast, dry ginger ale is produced on a large scale internationally, and is a staple food in supermarkets and bars, and in airlines.

Materials

Ginger ale generally contains carbonated water, sugar or HFCS, and a natural or artificial ginger flavor. Ginger content is often listed on the label in a natural "natural flavor" or "natural flavor" statement, to maintain the confidentiality of the special mixture of spices, fruits and other flavors used. Lemon, lime, and sugar cane are the most common of ingredients. Pineapple and honey are also common ingredients. Ginger ale can also contain yeast, when carbonated with natural fermentation.

Most commercial ginger is made in the United States made with high fructose corn syrup as a sweetener.

Usage

Ginger ale, like any other ginger product, is often used as home remedy to reduce digestive or travel disturbance, or to relieve and relieve cough and sore throat. The study of its effectiveness as an antiemetic has produced mixed results, with most of the findings that ginger extract will relieve the symptoms of nausea.

This drink is popular in beverage mixes, and punches, and is sometimes used as a substitute for non-alcoholic alcohol for champagne or beer, since the drinks are similar to each other in appearance. Ginger ale can be mixed with lots of liquor, beer, and wine. In Jamaica, the common way to consume ginger ale is mixed with Red Stripe beer; this is called Shandy Gaff.
