Development

The series was first hinted at Homestar Runner posted briefly on YouTube, called "Strong Bad Gameways", a parody of a pre-flight safety demonstration with the Wii Remote. The game itself was officially announced on April 10, 2008 in a press release from Telltale Games. The second season can be done if the first season sold well.

According to Mark Darin, the main designers of the series at Telltale Games, Mike and Matt Chapman, creators of Homestar Runner, were quite involved in the game production process, even from the beginning, "At the design stage we brainstormed sessions with them in which they contributed to the idea- an idea that will eventually become an episode plot. Then one of our designers will write a script of the episode and pass it on to the brothers where they review, edit and rewrite whatever it deems necessary to make the whole thing feel more "Strong Poor-y."

Reception

Episode 1 - Homestar Ruiner

Episode 1 - Homestar Ruiner received enough positive reviews. Combining GameRankings and Metacritic review websites provide Wii 76.76% and 76/100 versions and PC versions 73.33% and 73/100. IGN provides 8.1 games out of 10, with authentic presentations, sound work, music and opening songs that impress them most. They also believed that the game should be a download for fans, but felt that the experience was short-lived and did not undermine the new foundation for the genre. Instead, GameSpot believes the cartoon humor did not translate well into the adventure game, and gave it 5/10. ONM gave it 88%, named it one of the best WiiWare games so far, but the humor is not for everyone.
