In an interview with Stereogum, Armstrong said: "It all started with Stevie Wonder. [Laughs] We sang along with Stevie Wonder and his band and a great number of people, that's how Norah and I first met... Then... well, to the notes of the Everly Brothers a few years ago and I think it's just beautiful.I listen to it every morning for a while and keep going.I think it would be cool to recreate the recording because I think it's kind of an obscure thing and more people should know about that, but I really want to do it with women singing because I think it will take on a different meaning - it may extend a little meaning - compared to hearing songs sung by two brothers. So my wife said, 'Why you did not make Norah Jones do it? ' and I'm like, 'Well, I know her a little.' Well, I mean, we have the same Stevie Wonder So I called him and he said yes so it's like... well, I keep saying it like a blind date. "

Recording

In the studio, Jones and Armstrong join forces with bassist Tim Luntzel and drummer Dan Rieser. The recording begins with the first song from Our Daddy Taught Us Song because they "do not know where to start." Asked about singing harmonies along with Armstrong, Jones said: "I feel like the first song started coming together but it definitely took a minute to get super, super comfortable, but then after hearing what the first song sounded like I thought , "Oh! It will be great, it will be fine. "

The songs were originally recorded during the five-day session, except for one song that Armstrong and Jones forgot about. After a few weeks the musicians meet for another session to record it, and to put the finishing touches on the other tracks. "Personally, I really enjoy doing the recording in two sessions so you have room to see how you feel about everything. It's nice to go back and have room to re-record some of the songs we've done in We found out where the tape was at that point that and what's missing, so when we make back the songs we put in what's missing we just hit him a little harder I like doing it in two sessions like that, "said Norah Jones.

"Angry Eakin from The AV Club gives album B, saying "As it is, Forever is a smart and beautiful LP tribute. It may not initially be possible that Armstrong and Jones have a lot of connections to music. state of Kentucky) that Don and Phil Everly did, but after listening Forever , it's not hard to believe that maybe somewhere deep inside they can. â €

Phil Mongredien of The Observer gave the album three out of five stars, saying "Although it barely moves into a bold new musical grassland, it's not without charm and the use of a female voice puts a considerable distance between this and the original , the harmonious harmony given the Gram Parsons duet with Emmylou Harris. The spotlight came when Jones took the lead at Rockin 'Alone. "Mark Lore of Paste gave an album of 7.6 out of 10, saying" No doubt Forever will direct some more listeners to Our Daddy Taught Us Songs "Good thing. "Will Hermes of Rolling Stone gave the album three and a half stars out of five, saying" Just when you think Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong can not do worse punk heresies than do music Broadway, boo -Isyah Here's a collection of folk duets with Norah Jones wrapped in velvet, a good second-left left-field, All-Everly Brothers LP (see Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Dawn McCarthy What the Brothers Sang) made 1958 birthday >> Our Dad's Teaches Teach Us LP with spot-on harmony and a nice retro setting. "

Robert Ham of Alternative Press gave the album four out of five stars, saying "To add more praise to the people behind Forever , whoever it is in Reprise who decided to schedule this for the end of autumn/early the winter release also deserves some credit. Forever feel made special for a walk through the leafy streets or the dark night at home. The warm spirit radiated from this loving appreciation should be more than enough to keep you comfortable during the cold months ahead. "Zach Schonfeld of Consequence of Sound gave this album two of five stars, saying" Mediocre on every count, the series of tracks produced will not change anyone's mind about the artist involved (who assumes it will not make you love Everlys less), but as curiosity at a glance, exactly what it says i tu - with a little imagination to spare.
