Firefly Studios Limited is a UK video game developer based in London, England. The company was formed in 1999 by Simon Bradbury and Eric Ouellette. The company focuses on historic real-time title titles for PC and Macintosh systems, and is best known for the game series Stronghold .

The first title of Firefly, Stronghold succeeds both critically and commercially.
Yet the company has struggled to re-create the popularity of the original title of Stronghold and Stronghold: Crusader ; Stronghold Legends and Stronghold Legends are both poorly reviewed with 63% and 57% metascore respectively, and the last of the series, Stronghold: Crusader Extreme >, has received the worst review to date, receiving an average score of 40%. Their latest title Stronghold 3 has again received negative reviews by some game sites and fans for errors in the game (ie Difficult to build walls, no kings, etc.). Although there are many problems with this game, Firefly Studios says they will try patching this game every week.
A brief collaboration with Firaxis Games resulted in CivCity: Rome , which was poorly reviewed again, and it was the last Firefly title published by Take-Two Interactive.
The latest title, Stronghold Kingdoms , is the first Firefly launch into the MMO genre and launched as an open beta in November 2010.
Firefly also previously stated in 2008 that they will work at Stronghold 3 then Crusader II due to high demand by fans but only after the completion of Dungeon Hero In 2009 when asked if they have other games that have not been announced in development other than Dungeon Hero and Stronghold Kingdoms , the answer is they still have one more game in development. In Firefly's second bulletin, they stated that they had "something very big in the pipeline" which will be revealed in 2010.
Stronghold 3 was officially announced on May 14, 2010 by SouthPeak Games. It was released in October 2011.
Stronghold Crusader II is the latest title in the Stronghold series and is scheduled for release in Q4 2013, but then postponed to Q1 2014. This is the sequel to their 2002 title. Stronghold: Crusader which according to Lead Designer at Firefly Studios, Simon Bradbury, "our favorite game, this is our fan favorite game and it is a game we are waiting to put into production for some years now. "The title was released on September 23, 2014.

Future
Dungeon Hero , developed for PC and Xbox 360 systems, has been developed for several years. Originally published by Gamecock Media Group until they were purchased by SouthPeak Games in October 2008, this spurred a legal battle over game ownership issues. Dungeon Hero is currently without publishers though SouthPeak publishes any other Gamecock titles to be released. Firefly Studios has announced that the title is 'on hold', and with the last of several planned release dates have passed, it has further fueled speculation that this title is now the title of vaporware.
Stronghold: Next is the latest title confirmed by Firefly.
