the director's seat is a lightweight side-to-side seat with scissors action. Chairs and backs are made of canvas or similar strong fabrics that bear the full weight of the user and can be folded; frames made of wood, or sometimes metal or plastic. The members of the chair and scissors work together to support and distribute the weight of the caregiver so that the seat is comfortably tight. The back is usually low and the seats usually have armrests. The stereotypical image of a movie director on location includes one of these chairs, that's his name. Victor Papanek describes this chair as an excellent design in his book Design for the Real World â ⬠<â ⬠The chair of the modern American style director was introduced by Gold Medal Camp Furniture company. In 1892, the Classic Gold Medal design won the award for excellence in casual furniture design in the run up to the Columbian World Fair Expo in 1893 in Chicago. The Gold Medal Board of Directors is now produced in Tennessee by The Lord's Table, Inc. Video Director's chair
